Sheila Granger, UK based VGB pioneer and world renowned expert, developed her Virtual Gastric Band program to improve her clients prospects of experiencing significant weight loss using hypnotherapy.
Sheila Granger explains:
“The general consensus from clients shows increased will-power and no need to deprive themselves of the foods they enjoy. As humans if we are told to avoid something, we crave it even more.”

You probably have heard about the Gastric Band or maybe you know somebody who has had the procedure done. As you may know, this procedure drastically reduces the size of your stomach making it impossible for you to take more than a few bites each time you eat. This restriction is achieved by implanting a silicone ring in your stomach that divides it in to two sections; the upper section becomes a golf ball sized pouch that fills up quicker and as a result you cannot eat as much as before.
This is a good procedure, but Insurance Companies require you to be morbidly obese in order to cover it; meaning that women have to be at least 80 pounds overweight and men 100 pounds overweight to get the surgery done. You also have all the risks of a major surgery: pain, down time, possible infections, etc.
Now, the VIRTUAL GASTRIC BAND is a procedure that MENTALLY restricts the amount of food you can eat. It gets better results, it is a lot cheaper, it does not have any side effects, no downtime and it is more effective.
The most important thing about the virtual gastric band in comparison to the actual gastric band is that the virtual version deals with the issues in a person’s mind and their relationship with food. Having a foreign body inside your stomach simply does not deal with psychological factors.
A surgical patient can still over eat and burst the band, plus they have to eat a pureed diet. With the virtual band, if they find they are eating too much, it can be tightened under hypnosis, there is no invasive surgery and they are treating the psychological problems not just the physical.
This is of course the principle behind the actual surgical procedure but the virtual gastric band carries with it no risk, no on-going medical treatment and the hypnotherapy can be done quickly and privately and without the need to wait on hospital waiting lists.
The average weight loss experienced with Virtual Gastric Band therapy is 1-2kg in the first week and .5-1kg in subsequent weeks. This is achieved without dieting and without any feelings of loss or deprivation. I do not wave a magic wand, instead by consciously following simple rules each person will achieve a natural, steady loss of weight.
